One thing that is never too far from the mind of the wise person is the brevity of life. We are here for a short time, and must make it count. Some might use the adage: “I’m here for a good time, not a long time,” but we can see even in this week’s readings what will be missed by living such a life. If we are looking only for a good time, we will find ourselves tremendously disappointed. We read this week about suffering, injustice, and the harsh realities of sin and its after-affects. We also read how the one who remains true to God in the midst of such struggle always finds His faithfulness and restoration. Further, we will discover how God often uses even our pain and struggle to bring about His amazing plan for our life and our salvation.
