This week we will read again about the sacrifice of Christ and about the morning of His resurrection.  We will begin the week, though, still working our way through the tabernacle service requirements in Exodus.  The interesting thing is how these sections work together: everything in the tabernacle service – and later temple service – points to Christ. The consecration of the priests points to the role of Christ in removing our sin so that we can come before Holy God.  The incense altar pictures the intercessory prayer of Christ rising before God.  The atonement money tells of the great cost of our salvation.  The bronze basin speaks of our need for cleansing, and of God’s provision in the Words of Christ.  The anointing oil speaks of the Holy Spirit, released on people once atoned for and cleansed.  The sacred incense speaks of the presence of the Spirit in Christ-filled people: an aroma of life and redemption for all who are part of His people.   He is the Provider and Protector, even as we read in the psalms.  The whole book is about Him!
