God is our provider. He provides, and He provides again. He gives us what we need, and even more. Jesus notes that He is the Good Father, who gives the best provisions to His children. We see this in our psalms this week, with thanksgiving for protection and provision of safety which leads to all praise and thanksgiving. We see this in Exodus 31, where God – after giving the commands to build the tabernacle – provides the people and materials to get it done. We see this in John 21, where He even provides forgiveness and restoration to one who betrayed Him.
But then we see this other thing. In Exodus 32, we read about people who would not wait on His provision. They took matters into their own hands and provided a god for themselves, made in their image, for the purpose of satisfying their desire for security. God was in the very act of providing when they decided He was taking too long, and so messed up His plans and rejected His grace.
Let’s wait on God. Let’s present our needs before Him and offer Him our allegiance and await His good provision. He is the Good Father, and He provides!
